Computer Keyboard Shortcuts - Create Your Own Shortcut Keys

There is a lot of shortcuts on a computer if you know about them that is very handy.

Copy and Paste are probably the most used.

Say for instance you are using Notepad to compile a document or any other text editor for that matter.

To copy from one Notepad to another you must first highlight the text in order for the computer to know what to do.

Click on the text holding the mouse button down then drag it over the section of text you want to copy.

You'll see what is high lighted. Then you go to Edit Copy or you can right click and then click on Copy.

This is what happening. The high lighted text is put on the Clipboard which is temporary memory inside the Windows program.

In order to paste the information into another document you must first click inside the document for the computer to know where to paste the information. Again you go to Edit Paste or you can right click and then click Paste.

You can also use the keyboard to copy and paste.

First you high light the text then by holding the Control key down press the C key put the information on the Clipboard.

To paste you hold the control key down and press the V key.

Every time you copy something it replaces the information on the Clipboard.

Don't know where Notepad is on your computer?

Go to Start bottom left hand corner on your desktop, Programs, Accessories, Notepad.

Notepad can be also used to write a website.

Just save it as a "filename.html" without inverted commas and you got a website you can open with your browser.

The Alt key is also very handy for punctuation.

Without programming knowledge how to write a website can you convert the document to a website by merely saving it as a HTML document.
